Bengali auteur, Srijit Mukherjee, returns to his searing best with Rajkahini, a period drama with an ensemble cast of 11 heroines. Mukherjee’s magum opus centres on the partition of Bengal in 1947, and a brothel that lies across the border. With a rollcall of the best Bengali actresses and a strong visual aesthetic, Rajkahini is an exciting and complex political drama.
DIRECTOR
Srijit Mukherjee is a prominent Bengali filmmaker and writer, who made his debut with the multi award winning feature, Autograph (2010). Mukherjee has since made a significant contribution to Bengali cinema, and, in 2013, was the youngest recipient of the Uttam Kumar Memorial Award.
